They say “Oh, but we can joke about murder and people laugh. We can joke about murder and you don’t object! Is murder less violent than rape? Lighten up.” and they’re right. Murder is just as heinous as rape, and the violence of such an act is just as sickening and horrendous.

But the key difference is that when you’re doing a stand up routine, you can be fairly sure that your murder joke isn’t going to remind 65 different people about the time they were murdered.
